Thoughts about Last nights games and looking toward Saturday

It feels great to sleep for 11 hours after an exhausting night at the Wachovia Center.  Of course we all know about the game, but I saw some good things from the Wildcats. Scottie Reynolds realized that when his shots weren’t going down…it made more sense to distribute to the other role players. Corey Fisher, though only 1-5 from the field, did most of his work from the line scoring 11…it was a good win for the ‘Cats. American was not taken lightly and they played their hearts out for the entire game. In the end, the Wildcats were too big and too athletic for American.

Two national powers collide in the second round. Villanova matches up better against UCLA mostly because they’re offensively challenged and although they have size, they don’t have the speed or the toughness to matchup with Villanova. The one problem for Villanova might be the speed of Darren Collison. He is probably the fastest point guard in the nation, but he isn’t an explosive scorer besides getting quick layups. Their best shooters are Nikola Dragovic and Josh Shipp. Shipp has great size but I believe that we can shut him down. In the end I feel that the defense will give both teams fit, but the offensive power of Villanova will be the difference. Villanova 75 UCLA 70
